Sam Bush at 2007 Telluride

We'd love to hear your comments about our new site. Bundle up your love and frustrations and send it all to [email protected].

You can only ski in fresh powder and play music with friends around cozy wood stoves for so long... for all around us are reminders of the summer to come – the growing list of artists for the 35th gathering of the Festivarians in Telluride, the latest draft of the doctrine of sustainable festivation, and the launch of our new website...

If you missed our holiday email, take a minute to watch our holiday gift for all Festivarians: a 10-minute video reflection of the music and magic we all shared together this past year. View the hi-res video (or the smaller version for dialup users), and pass it on to your Festivarian family.

The preliminary festival lineups are here for Telluride Bluegrass, RockyGrass, and Folks Fest, and tickets and camping for all our 2008 festivals are now on sale at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Holiday-priced tickets for RockyGrass and Telluride are now sold-out (in record time), but we still have holiday-priced tickets for Folks Fest – while they last.

Festivarians at Telluride Bluegrass

For years, Planet Bluegrass has been leading the way in sustainable festivation. Together with our festival partners, we have worked to reduce every aspect of the environmental impacts of our events. In 2007 we took the historic step toward a 100% carbon neutral Telluride Bluegrass Festival by purchasing 4,111,699 KWh of renewable energy credits to offset the emissions from all festival travel to/from Telluride. To commemorate the occasion, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, jr. declared June 23 Colorado Bluegrass Day - honoring Planet Bluegrass for "using renewable energy to help protect our environment while producing a world-class festival."

The 200-day journey toward the festivarian family reunion - the 35th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 19-22) - has officially begun. We're thrilled to welcome Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby, Ani DiFranco, Sam Bush, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Brett Dennen, Uncle Earl, and many others to the 2008 concurrence of the summer solstice, full moon, music, and magic. Read reviews of last year's Festival from the Rocky Mountain News, Denver Post, and Paste Magazine.

Then a month later, we reconvene the Festivarian family for the 36th Annual RockyGrass (July 25-27). This year's lineup explores the many roots and branches of bluegrass from Celtic (Natalie MacMaster) to newgrass (Psychograss) to classic (Dan Tyminski Band) to the only-at-RockyGrass (Sam Bush Bluegrass Band). And that doesn't even consider the legendary campground jam scene. Last year's RockyGrass sold-out over two months in advance, so start your planning for the festival and our week-long RockyGrass Academy now.

In August, we plant our chairs in the cooling currents of the St. Vrain River to enjoy our "summit of the song" - the 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (Aug 15-17). With our international lineup includes Greg Brown, The Waifs, Todd Snider, Tim O'Brien, and many many more, stories and music are uniquely intertwined all weekend, and for the preceding week at our Song School.
