Festival Tips
What Can You Do?
Planet Bluegrass is committed to producing the finest musical experiences in exquisite natural venues in the most sustainable manner possible. There are a lot of simple ways we can all reduce our impact on Telluride’s and Lyons' fragile ecosystems.
- REUSE. Bring reusable items such as coffee mugs, water bottles and plastic cups for beverages.
- REUSE. Bring your own personal eating utensils.
- REUSE. Bring your own grocery bag when you buy groceries and festival goodies.
- REUSE your vintage KOTO beer cups at the Festival and bring them home with you after the Festival. If you can’t, please dispose of them only in the specially marked containers at the KOTO beer booth and customs gate or give to someone who will enjoy them.
- CARPOOL. Not only will you reduce carbon emissions; you will save money and have more fun too!
- BICYCLE. Zero emissions, great exercise, and the perfect way to get around the town of Telluride as well as take jaunts into the surrounding mountains. Check out Bluegrass By Bike (or the discussion on the Festivarian Forum) as a way to attend Planet Bluegrass festivals on your bike or the bicycle journey of Ty and Brett from Canada to Mexico via Telluride Bluegrass.
PACK IT OUT. Take your recycling home when you leave so that we can reduce the number of truck trips to the recycling center.
- REDUCE. If you’re staying in a hotel or condo, let them know that you don’t need to have your towels and sheets washed daily.
- VISIT THE WASTE STATION. Use the compost, recycling and waste bins in the festival and campgrounds. Please ask our volunteers if you’re not sure, so compost and recycling is not contaminated. At Rocky Grass and Folks Fest the following can be composted and recycled. With your help we can achieve our goal of less waste to the landfill and more waste being composted and recycled.
