Festival Guidelines
Think of these as suggested Planetary codes..."rules and regulations" seems so harsh and reminiscent of grade school home room. Nevertheless, the Festival experience is more pleasant for everyone involved when we all adhere to the following...

No dogs are allowed anywhere at the Festival. This includes cars, campgrounds, parking lots and condos. Dogs do not like crowds, heat or traffic.A young Festivarians first wristband!
(photo: Maria Camillo) - Alcohol, Glass and Video Cameras are not allowed on the Festival grounds. You are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks in appropriate containers. We serve beer and wine at the Festival (don’t forget your ID) and we have a wide assortment of vendors with reasonably priced yummy food, cool crafts, clothes and other stuff. Taping is permitted unless the performing artist requests otherwise.
- Dancing & hula hooping are welcome in designated areas.
- Sorry, no frisbee playing in the Festival.
- Please use only low back chairs in front of the sound booth on the Festival grounds. If we can roll a basketball under it we will ask you nicely to move behind the sound booth.
- Children 12 and under are free for the Festival and camping, but must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- In the spirit of Festivarianism, if you see an empty tarp, feel free to have a seat until the owner returns.
Refund Policy

Your tickets will arrive in via first class United States Post Office mail in a plain white window envelope from Lyons, CO. Please keep your eye out for them! Orders of 6 or more tickets will be sent certified mail. If you do not receive your tickets within 3 weeks of ordering you must contact Planet Bluegrass 800-624-2422. Planet Bluegrass will not attempt to locate orders not received within 2 months of ordering and your order WILL NOT BE REPLACED.
Morning tarp rush - If you need a refund, please send your tickets and invoice
back to us via certified mail. Refunds must be postmarked by

Because we have had many complaints about the overnight line to get into the show, we have established a policy in hopes of creating a kinder, gentler, more Festivarian-like entry each morning. Please keep in mind that the entry line is a complicated logistical problem and we have developed these rules with a lot of experience and taking a number of factors into consideration. Our goal is to create an entry procedure that will be fair, orderly, and will satisfy the greatest number of Festivarians. Any feedback or suggestions you may have are greatly encouraged!
- This is a general admission festival. Your tarps do not change that. Festivarians who see empty tarp space are encouraged to have a seat until the owner returns.
- Numbers will be handed out each morning prior to the gates opening.
- Even after receiving your number, you must stay in line - reasonable bathroom/coffee breaks aside.
- You must be physically present in line - no empty chairs!
- You may not camp in line - this means no tents, no cooking, and no sleeping.
- One number, one person, one tarp.
- Festivarians with numbers will be admitted into the Festival in order, one at a time, after going through the standard Customs procedure.
Working Towards a Greener Bluegrass Festival

The success of our efforts to make the Festival more green depends on everyone. For several years, everyone involved has noted a great spirit of cooperation among Festivarians in regard to the efforts to reduce waste. By preparing ahead of time, you can make a difference with regards to festival waste and energy consumption. Here are a few ideas:
- Bring reusable items such as water bottles and vintage TBF beer cups.
- Carpool. Not only is it more gentle on the environment, it’s more fun too! (You think YOU sound good singing along to Ryan Adams at the top of your lungs on the way to Telluride? You'll sound even better with more people!) Check out the "Hitching a Ride" board at the Festivarian Forum.
- Take your recycling home when you leave the valley so that we can reduce the number of truck trips to carry the waste to Grand Junction.
- Bring your own personal eating utensils and reusable napkins.
- If you’re staying in a hotel or condo, let them know that you don’t need to have your towels and sheets washed daily.
- Bring your own bag if you buy groceries.
- Bring home your beer cups, as they will last for years. If you can’t, please dispose of them only in the specially marked containers at the KOTO beer booth and customs gate.
- Dispose of Biota Water bottles in the compost bins, not the recycle bins.
