Eve of Mabon Ceili
The official Autumnal Equinox occurs at 10:03pm on Friday, September 22. Help us raise a glass, a fiddle bow, and a dance step to celebrate with a traditional Ceili barn dance in the Wildflower Tent on Planet Bluegrass.
We've gathered some of the Mabon headliners and some of our favorite Colorado musicians for a festive night of music, dancing, and festivation. The bar will be open, the sky will be clear, and the tent will be a joyous center of Celtic energy.
Young Irish button box master Johnny B. Connolly will be anchoring this year's Ceili session band, joined by his group Bridgetown, Colorado fiddler Jessie Burns, and other special guests from the Front Range and beyond.
Award-winning dance caller Chris Kermiet will be on hand to direct your feet. Join in on contras, Scottish line dances, and American forms. Or make up your own on the edges of the tent. No experience is necessary. Come with a partner or without. Kids are very welcome. Bring an instrument, bring a mug, or bring your dancing shoes.
Tickets
Tickets to the Ceili are included with your Festival of the Mabon pass. Or they can be purchased separately on-site for $5. The Ceili box office opens at 6pm and the dance gets started at around 7:00pm. Parking will be available on the grounds at Planet Bluegrass.
Sometime after the official Equinox the music will transition from the Wildflower Tent to the jam circles in the campground. Pack a tent, a warm sleeping bag, and a sweater and spend the entire weekend on Planet Bluegrass.
Tickets and camping for the 2006 Festival of the Mabon are on sale now. Call 800-624-2422 or order online.
