2007 Academy Lottery

The demand for the limited number of Academy spaces continues to grow each year. In an effort to make this process as fair and simple for everyone as possible, we will be using an online lottery system for Academy classes this year. We realize this is a change for everyone, but we hope these rules will allow everyone an equal chance of getting in; without the hassle of spending an entire day playing the telephone lottery - hitting redial time after time.

Lottery Rules

1. The lottery may only be entered using the secure online form.
2. You may only enter one lottery form per person. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
3. The Academy online lottery will be open from October 20 thru November 27.
4. You may elect to pay for your tickets either on a credit card or a personal check. If paying by check, your check must be mailed to us by the lottery closing date of November 27.
5. Your lottery entry is not transferrable. If you sign up for a class, you must take the class or the deposit will be forfeited. The name on the lottery form cannot be changed at a later date.
6. You may list one or more family members who are also entering the Academy lottery whom you plan to attend the Academy with. We will make every attempt to not break up these family groups.
7. You may select one specific class in the Academy, e.g. "Advanced guitar."
8. If you play another instrument, you may list a second-choice, e.g. "Intermediate dobro." This second-choice must be on a different instrument. Please remember, you must be at least a novice player to attend the Academy.
9. You may enter up to 2 kids in the Kids Camp. If your entry is accepted, the kids will be placed in the Kids Camp if space is available. Starting this year, Kids Camp students must be accompanied by adults in the Academy. Kids Camp students should not submit their own lottery form.

    You may sign up for one Academy guest pass. Guests will be accommodated until the limit is reached.
11. You may purchase one on-site camping pass for the Festival. If you specified a guest pass for the Academy, you may purchase a second on-site camping pass for the Festival for this guest.
12. You may sign up for one on-site vehicle pass for the Festival. Please note a change for 2007: no RVs will be allowed in the on-site campground during the Festival. A vehicle pass for the Festival will allow a vehicle up to 18 feet in length.

The lottery will officially close at 11:59pm MST on November 27, 2006. At that time we will begin randomly selecting entries from all lottery entries, entering them into their desired Academy classes as space remains available. We will notify all Academy lottery applicants about their status by the end of the day on Friday, December 1. If your first and second choice classes are both full when your entry is chosen, we will not process your entry and your credit card will not be charged / check will not be deposited.

Purchasing on-site camping for the Festival... If you are planning on purchasing on-site camping for the RockyGrass Festival, you should select on-site camping in the Academy lottery and delay entering the RockyGrass On-Site Camping lottery until you hear back from us on December 1 with the status of your Academy lottery application. If you did not receive on-site camping through the Academy lottery, you will still have 3 days to enter the RockyGrass on-site camping lottery which closes on December 4 at 11:59pm MST.
